Suood Anwar & Co. is proud to announce that Husnu Al Suood, our Managing Partner has been honored with the National Award of Recognition for Outstanding Services in the field of law/legal services. This award was conferred to Husnu Al Suood by the President of Maldives, H.E. Mohamed Nasheed at a special ceremony held to mark the Republic Day 2011. National Awards of Recognition have been given annually since 1979 to individuals and entities that have performed outstanding services in their respective fields to the Maldives.

This is the first time in the history of the award, that an individual has been recognized for outstanding services in the field of law/legal services.

This award reaffirms the reputation Suood has as one of the most prominent lawyers in the Maldives. He has in the past held positions such as the Chairman of the National Law Reform Commission, President of the Clemency Board, elected member of the Judicial Services Commission (representing the legal profession), member of the Human Rights Commission, Chief Judge of the Civil Court of Maldives and Attorney General of the Maldives.

His publications include The Maldivian Legal System, Understanding Maldivian Company Law and Our Rights Our Country. His book on Maldivian company law is widely used by students, practitioners and judges as the leading text on corporate law in the Maldives.
